Coltrane's second full session as a leader, recorded for Prestige on 23 August, 1957 but only issued early in 1958 (date according to Billboard of 31 March 1958). Originally released as "John Coltrane with the Red Garland Trio" with an abstract cover, the album was reissued three years later as "Traneing In", the cover now showing a portrait of Coltrane taken by Esmond Edwards.
